West Cornwall has the highest concentration of ancient sites in Europe, it is also the home to Cornwall’s key mining heritage sites. All the sites featured in our gallery are within 10 miles of our self catering properties.
Enjoy some spectacular walks with breathtaking scenery, and immerse yourself in the rich history and Celtic folklore of Cornwall.
A must visit is ‘St Michael’s Mount’, Marazion, one of the most historic landmarks in Cornwall.
The Castle, steeped in historic legends and dating back to the 12th Century, rises up from the sea and sits majestically in Mounts Bay. A lovely sandy beach approaches the Mount and follows all the way to Penzance. A big favourite with families because of its soft sand and warm & calm sea.
Owned by the St Aubyns family, with an active community living and working on the Island and in the care of The National Trust, it is a Jewel in the Crown. Accessible by foot along the ancient causeway when the tide is out and a short ferry boat ride when in.
Situated in the historic town of Marazion, just 3 miles from Penzance, you can travel on foot / bike along the cycle and beach pathway from Penzance, catch one of the many regular buses or drive; there are numerous car parks within the town.
